Half moon front sight, U notch round top rear sight. Left side with 2 line 2 block Colt patent information and address, last date Feb 14, 1911. Colt Rampant Pony at rear, uncircled; right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" in serif font. Vertical "H" stamped at top of firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel stamped with a "5" in front of log and "PH" parallel to bore on top of hood. Top of frame with "H" and "5" subinspector proofs. Penfield proof on left side of frame, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" in serif font on left side of dust cover. "No (with horizontal strike under o)" serial prefix. Checkered bordered spur hammer, thin tab safety, early relief mill cut slide release, long milled trigger, checkered magazine release, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond walnut grips. Two-tone dual pinned magazine base with lanyard loop. CONDITION: Very good, retaining approximately half of the Colt blue finish with losses towards muzzle and high edges consistent with holster wear and use. Top of slide and straps essentially patina, with slide a rich brown and straps dove grey. Takedown mark and some silvering at reciprocating areas. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is good with softness to lands. A nice example with no apologies to make. EW
