Standard configuration Papa Nambu manufactured at the Koishikawa arsenal beteen 1906 to 1923. The left side of the frame bears 2 Kanji characters, denoting manufacture for the Japanese Imperial Army, with the right side bearing 3 Kanji characters denoting the model. Top of the frame bears the Koishikawa arsenal logo. Barrel measures 4 - 3/4" and features a blade front sight, with a rear tangent sight on the frame, which is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers include the frame, receiver, bolt, firing pin, locking block, cocking knob, and recoil spring guide. Striker tab and magazine do not match. Grips are unnumbered and retain Kanji characters painted on the right panel. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair to good amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of oxidation all around, with areas of pitting present on the grip straps, trigger guard, and grip safety. Trigger retains traces of its straw finish, with the balance turning a gray patina. Bore is bright, retaining good rifling and showing areas of oxidation throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing as well as a few minor impressions, with the right grip panel bearing two scratches near the base. -MLW-
