Lot consists of (A) Smith & Wesson K38 Target Masterpiece double action revolver with box. Made 1949. Company trademark and address on the right side of the frame. Matching serials on the butt, barrel, and cylinder. 6 shot fluted cylinder. Square butt frame. Pinned round steel barrel with ramped blade front sight and adjustable U-notch rear. Front blade has been painted red. Factory blued finish on the metal components. Case colored serrated trigger with knurled spurred hammer. Checkered wood target style grips with thumb rest, which are unmarked. Includes an unnumbered blue Smith & Wesson flat board box with papers and cleaning kit. Looks to be later production. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its original finish with some general finish wear. Hammer looks to have been intentionally bent to the left (possibly for a particular user). Grips have a few handling marks and scratches. Bore is clean with crisp rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good timing and lockup. Drag lines on the cylinder. Mechanically fine. Box is excellent with light wear. (B) Smith & Wesson K38 Target Masterpiece double action revolver. Made 1951. Company trademark and address on the right side of the frame. Matching serials on the butt, barrel, and cylinder. 6 shot fluted cylinder. Square butt frame. Pinned round steel barrel with ramped blade front sight and adjustable U-notch rear. Barrel has an added removable compensator. Factory blued finish on the metal components. Case colored serrated trigger with knurled spurred hammer. Added trigger shoe. Checkered wood target style grips with thumb rest, marked "MADE IN ITALY" on the inside. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its original finish with general wear and handling marks. Hammer looks to have been enlarged by soldering on another piece and recheckering it. Grip has minor dings, scratches and gouges. Bore is clean with crisp rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good timing and lockup. Drag lines on the cylinder. Mechanically fine. JWA
