Pre-World War II German Mauser ES 340 N bolt action .22 LR sporting rifle. Made mid-1930s in Germany. Left side of the barrel is marked "PATRONE 22 LONG RIFLE". Left side of the receiver is marked "MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.N.". Pre-War "BUG" proofs on the receiver and bolt. Mauser logo on the crest of the receiver and butt plate. Faint Mauser cartouche on the right side of the stock. No import mark. Matching serial numbers on the barrel, receiver and bolt. Round steel barrel with removable blade front sight, and rear sight adjustable to 200 meters. Oil finished wood stock. Smooth metal butt plate. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. Metal retains 70-75% of its original blued finish with light wear, especially on the receiver. Butt plate exhibits 50% freckling.Adjustable rear sight is freckled on the ramp. Wood has handling marks and scratches, and appears to have been in close proximity to a fire as the finish, mainly on the rear 15", presents light cracking. Clean bore with crisp rifling.
