Lot consists of (A) Lithgow No.1 MK III Lee Enfield bolt action rifle. Dated "1921" on the stock socket, under the Lithgow shield. Right side of the stock is marked "M.A./LITHGOW/S.M.L.E" ,"III*" and, "1943" followed by "HV". Import marked on the left side of the receiver bridge. Matching serials on the receiver, bolt, barrel, rear sight and fore stock. Nose cap and magazine are not numbered. Blade front sight with the rear adjustable to 2000 meters. Front sight blade has been painted orange. Finish is arsenal reapplied. Correct lightly finished wood stocks, with brass trap door butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its finish with light wear and handling marks. Light tarnish on the butt plate. Wood is excellent with a few handling marks and scratches. Bore is frosted, but retains sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) British No.4 MK 1 Lee Enfield bolt action. This is a possible (we make no guarantee) ex No.4 MK1 T rifle. Left side of the stock socket is marked "M/47/1943/AN7208/TR". Left side of the receiver is marked "No.4 MK 1" followed by a "T". Single staked screws on the mounts. Mounts show similar age and patina to the receiver. No, "S51" Holland and Holland conversion stamps on the stock. There is also no scope serial number on the wrist of the stock. Rear peep sight has been correctly ground down. Tonnage markings on the end of the barrel. Chamber has an import stamp, marked "ENGLAND". Rifle is completely mismatched. Blade front sight with ladder adjustable to 1300 meters. Original finish worn to a grayish patina in most areas. Stock set is a 1950s era replacement with black enamel finish on the metal stock components. Brass trapdoor butt plate. Magazine is later production as well. Includes a reproduction "MRT/3-59" dated M1D style leather cheek piece. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with wear and patina. Wood is very good overall with handling marks and scratches. There is a 2 - 1/2" crack on the left side of the upper hand guard. Frosted bore with very good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. Cheek piece is very good. A nice rifle for a sniper build. JWA
