Converted in the late 1860s from a standard Springfield Armory Model 1863 rifled musket. Eagle head proofed 36 - 5/8" barrel sleeved to .50 caliber and mounted with 2 position leaf rear sight. Breech block dated 1866 with eagle head proof. Lock plate dated 1864 and marked with federal eagle and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD". Full length walnut stock mounted with 3 spring-retained iron bands, 2 piece trigger guard, and "US" marked butt plate. Stock marked with a script "HTH" cartouche and a very faint oval "ESA". Complete with knurled ram rod and "US" marked socket bayonet. CONDITION: Good. Metal components cleaned to bright polish with some marks and freckling from older corrosion. Stock very good with expected marks and wear. Good bore with strong rifling. Fine mechanics. BAS
