This Springfield Model 1873 Carbine is serial numbered "41055" which makes it made in 1875 and falls into the under approximately 50,000 serial number range, which is the "Custer Range". It is also 655 guns from known Custer gun serial numbered "41743". While this gun falls into the range we have no sure way of knowing if it was at Custer's Last Stand. Gun has blued round rifled barrel with pinned blade front sight and graduated to 500 yards rear flip sight. Black finished action with high arch breech block marked with "Model 1873 / (Eagle, Arrows, and US)". 3 position dark finished lock with "(Eagle)" and "US Springfield 1873" markings. Walnut short combed stock with "JSA" cartouche and "P" in circle stamp behind tang. Gun has blued hardware with front stacking swivel, 2 piece trigger guard, and non-trap buttplate. CONDITION: Metal has started to fade to a plum patina especially in the action and lock areas. Wood has nice aged look with traces of original finish and some handling marks and dings. Dark bore with some frosting and good mechanics. DLM
