Standard 30" blued barrel chambered for the .30-40 Army cartridge and fitted with a 1902 style adjustable rear sight and blade front. Barrel is retained by 2 blued iron bands with sling provisions on a 2 piece full length walnut stock. Stock marked with a crisp "JLA/1903" and circle "P" proof at the wrist. Blued action stamped "U.S. / Model 1898. Springfield Armory. 442716". CONDITION: Excellent. Retains the vast majority of the original applied finishes with some slight thinning on receiver and losses to the butt plate. Nitre blue and case colored small parts still brilliant with some light edge wear. Stock excellent with a few scattered handling marks and a small "+" carved near the cartouche. Crisp rifling and excellent mechanics. A hard to beat example of a late production Krag rifle. BAS
