Springfield Model 1903 bolt action magazine rifle made at Springfield Armory in 1903. Rare gun altered with 1905 modifications from original rod bayonet gun adding to the rarity is that it is still in .30-03 caliber. Blued round rifled barrel with "SA" and "Flaming Bomb" markings and dated "05" with hooded banded front sight and rear early style flip sight graduated to only 2400 yards for the .30-03 cartridge. Gun has new made barrel with these markings. Blued action with typical 1903 markings with serial number 39365. Blued bolt with straight handle and correct 1905 configuration. Walnut finger groove stock with no cross bolts and plugged hole at end for rod bayonet. Stock is unmarked with the exception of a "4" stamped behind the tang. Walnut high hump top wood modification. Comes with "SA" marked 1905 bayonet dated "1908" with wooden handle "R.I.A." marked leather scabbard dated 1909 and inspected by "T.G.C.". Also comes with Rock Island Arsenal marked leather sling dated 1903. CONDITION: 70% original blue remaining with corners worn to a silvery patina with some areas fading to a plum patina. Wood has dark finish with handling marks and dings and gouges. Good bore with ME of 2 with good mechanics with accessories in good condition. A rare rifle and a must for a serious Springfield collector. DLM
