Springfield Model 1903 N.R.A. Sporter bolt action rifle made in 1924. Blued tapered "Star Gauge" marked barrel with "SA" marking, Flaming bomb and dated 12-23. Hooded front sight with "U.S. Flaming Bomb" marking and "R" on other side of hood. Blued receiver with bridge marked " U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 1262035. Polished unnumbered bolt with "X" marking on underside of bolt handle and "W 3 L" on top side of bolt handle which falls into the correct lot code for this rifle. Correct Lyman 48 peep sight. Walnut 1922 style stock with sling band, two screws, "P" in circle proof and marksman style buttplate. This gun exhibits all the correct characteristics of an N.R.A. Sporter but does not show up on the list which some collectors feel is incomplete. Approximately 6500 made. CONDITION: 80% blue with some freckling areas from poor storage. 70% original stock finish with some blemishes again from poor storage. Good bore and mechanics. Hard rifle to find in unmolested condition. DLM
