Produced from 1917 to 1919 to help meet US military demand for side arms during World War I. Standard blued finish 5 - 1/2" barrel with "S.&W. D.A. 45", 2 line address and USP marking. Blade front sight and integral U-notch rear. 6 shot .45 ACP cylinder for use with moon clips. Frame marked with ordnance bomb and on butt with "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917". Butt mounted with standard lanyard loop. 2 piece walnut service grips. Complete with a 1917 dated Graton & Knight "US" flap holster. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the original factory applied blued finish is retained with some silvering at high edges, a drag line and a few scattered marks. Trigger and hammer retain vibrant case colors. Grips very good with a few minor marks. Excellent mirror bore with crisp rifling. Indexes correctly. Holster good with some wear and scuffs, in addition to some verdigris forming around brass components. BAS
