Bob Chow is legendary amongst early 1911 pistol smiths for his incredible quality of work. He had his own shop in San Francisco where he worked on guns, and supplied customers with shooting supplies. This example has a Bomar rib with extension and is stamped "CHOW" on the barrel, with NM stock mark, custom Chow thick bushing with "CHOW" in front. Ejection port has been flared and opened up to aid in ejection. Frame and slide have been polished to an in-the-white appearance from Bob's top quality fitting. Inside of the slide with "CHOW" "5 81" for date, "DFA", possibly customer initials, and order details for "BS" - Bomar Sights, "MB" - Match Barrel, "FA" - Fully Accurized. Short serrated trigger, serrated narrow hammer, and serrated small parts. Arched serrated mainspring housing. Housed in Colt wood grain box with correct information on end label and styrofoam container with one of Bob's custom bushing wrenches. CONDITION: Excellent, showing very little evidence of use, retaining the vast majority of the blue finish with some minor marks from handling and storage. Some extremely minor silvering at reciprocating areas. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent with strong rifling. Box has some edge rubbing and partial detachment to one apron. Some waviness to box, probably from water damage that dried. Bob's guns are mechanical art and this is a great one. EW
