One of only 5,000 Model 1906 M2 Royal Portuguese Army Lugers manufactured by DWM between 1908-1910. Major metal components are rust blued, with smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Receiver is marked with the royal crown over "M2" for King Manuel II (who was the last reigning monarch of Portugal), with a Portuguese triangle within a circle inspection proof present on the left side. Portuguese inspection proofs are also present on the rear of the frame and underside of the barrel. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the sideplate which is numbered "11", as well as the magazine and grips which are appropriately unnumbered. This example is accompanied by an original Portuguese M2 leather holster and magazine pouch, which are marked "A.E." on their interiors. Holster retains an original pin punch tool and brass cleaning rod with oiler handle, as well as an unmarked loading tool. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting a few scattered areas of minor wear, as well as some moderate thinning on the grip straps. Interior and exterior metal components retain a layer of cosmoline. Strawed components retain fair amounts of their finish, showing wear all around and with the balance showing age related discoloration. Bore is bright, retaining large amounts of cosmoline fair to good rifling throughout. Grips are reproduction, showing smoothing to the checkering as well as a repaired split on the right panel. Leather holster and magazine pouch show some areas of age related cracking and retain good stitching all around. Rear panel of holster has been slightly cut out on the interior at one point in time.
