Manufactured by Ohio Ordnance Works, this BAR 1918A3 is comprised of a newly manufactured semi-automatic receiver, which fires from a closed bolt, as well as G.I. surplus components. The top of the receiver is marked "MOD. 1918A3 U.S. CAL. 30 / SELF LOADING RIFLE / OHIO ORDNANCE WORKS, INC. / CHARDON, OH" followed by the patent number and the serial number. Metal components have been very nicely reparkerized. Features include a skid-footed bipod, cylindrical flash suppressor, carry handle, standard walnut forearm, and a black plastic buttstock with a flip up recoil plate. This example is accompanied by 6 additional blued and parkerized magazines and a nice assortment of additional parts and components including a pronged flash hider, 1918A2 firing pins, extractors, gas cylinder bodies, recoil springs, as well as other small parts and accessories to keep one firing at the range. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their reapplied parkerized finish, exhibiting some superficial areas of wear that show through to silvering in some areas. Mirror bore, retaining well defined lands and grooves throughout. Walnut forearm shows some impressions and nicks, with the buttstock showing some scattered handling marks. A very nice and attractive semi-automatic example of an iconic World War II firearm. -MLW-
