Kentucky style rifle with Lehigh and surrounding area attributes. Gun has octagon deep straight cut rifled barrel with blade front sight with double hash mark in front of sight and rear notched sight with double lines in front and back of sight like on Lehigh guns. Percussion lock controlled by handmade turned trigger similar to a Shuler trigger of Bucks county with Shuler style patchbox release in toe. Full curly maple stock with slight Egg shaped wrist and 1 -1/2" wide butt with incised floral carving pattern behind cheek and elongated "S" shaped pattern on forestock with double line moulding line. 3 coin silver inlays with engraved Hunter's Star on cheek, silver thumbpiece and silver escutcheon for touch hole pick on bottom of stock. Brass hardware including an engraved 4 piece patchbox with a finial seen in Lancaster county. CONDITION: Gun is in as found condition with an overall dry appearance. Gun has been converted to percussion and has wood missing around lock with several old repairs and cracks. Lock sideplate is missing screw and wrist is loose. Small crack behind trigger guard. Wood missing near muzzle on forestock and around lock. Nose cap is a modern replacement. Good visible rifling with lock not holding cock. An interesting rifle for restoration. DLM
