A Third Reich Luftwaffe officer sword with reproduction Damascus blade. The unmarked artificial Damascus steel blade features the so-called "Maiden Hair" Damascus pattern. The blade itself is a post-War reproduction which was used after the war to replace the original nickel plated blade. The remaining parts of the sword are original parts. The aluminum cross guard and pommel feature a central gilded swastika on both sides with a very light patina in the recesses of the aluminum. The grip is made of a Moroccan blue leather wrapped wood core which is bound with a double twist aluminum cord. The grip leather has a few small areas of light scuffs. The scabbard features an aluminum throat and drag with scattered light marks. The main body of the scabbard is nicely wrapped with blue Moroccan leather with scattered marks, scuffs and small dens throughout. The original blue leather hanger is still originally attached to the scabbard. Regardless of the reproduction Damascus blade, the sword displays very nicely as a much cheaper alternative to an original. CONDITION: Very good. D.W.
