Extremely rare and desirable pair of World War II German Kriegsmarine 10x80 binoculars on a WWI era US Navy mount. These binoculars were mounted to an anti-aircraft guns on German gun boats. They feature a V-notch rear sight and an anti aircraft front sight. The binoculars measure approximately 70" when on the mount when the elevation control is extended, approximately 53" inches when the elevation control is distended, and approximately 19" long from lens to lens. The binoculars retain their original data plate that reads "D.F. / 10X80 / m.schr.Binbl.20" above an eagle over "M" Kriegsmarine waffenamt followed by "Carl Zeiss / Jena / 129493" underneath. The binoculars, pedestal mount, and case have all been polished in order to illuminate the original steel and brass metals. The elevation control, traversing mechanism, and focus adjustments are all operable and the binoculars move in all directions with ease. These binoculars were built with a farbglaswechsler, or color glass changer, as there is an option to switch the lens colors from day to night. The binoculars also have moisture absorbent cartridges and nitrogen ports to remove moisture and reduce lens fogging. The rubber eyecups are intact and remain supple. The has a functioning elevation control and is marked "A21 BU 321-5-1 USN". The binoculars are compete with their original carry case. The case has also been polished but retains the original wartime gray paint on the interior. There is a "blc" manufacturer code, denoting Carl Zeiss manufacturing, that was applied in white paint as well as a faint, but noticeable Kriegsmarine ink stamp on the interior lid. A picture of the binoculars is glued to the interior lid. The optics remain clear and the lenses do not exhibit any serious cracks, chips, or blemishes. Both the binoculars, mount, and case are finely polished and remain bright while exhibiting scattered scuffs and scratches. The binoculars and mount exhibit scattered areas of pitting. Despite being on an incorrect mount, the binoculars present very well CONDITION: Very good. JLD
