World War I- World War II era "big eye" binoculars on a coast artillery tripod. The binoculars and tripod are unmarked and are constructed of polished steel with brass lens shields and adjustments. The binoculars measure approximately 63" when on the mount and approximately 37" long from lens to lens. The elevation control, traversing mechanism, and focus adjustments are all operable and the binoculars move in all directions with ease. The optics remain clear and the lenses do not exhibit any serious cracks, chips, or blemishes. Both the binoculars and tripod are finely polished and remain bright while exhibiting scattered scuffs and scratches. The binoculars and tripod exhibit pitting, which would be typical of objects that spent their service in close proximity to salt water. CONDITION: Good. JLD
