Truly exceptional specimen of a Krupp Model 1906 50mm Mountain Cannon manufactured under contract for Siam (Thailand). Marked on the breech with Siamese Government proofs and manufacturer “FRIED. KRUPP. A.G./ESSEN”. Only about 30 of these guns are in the United States and they are highly sought collector’s items. Dimensions are 73” long from muzzle to end of trail. 24 - 1/2” long barrel from muzzle to face of breechblock. 32” high wheels, 38” wide hub to hub. Although manufactured after 1898, this weapon has been removed from the provisions of the National Firearms Act and will transfer like a Curio & Relic rifle. Front and rear sights present and serviceable. Breechblock and contemporary firing lanyard present. Consigner states he fired this gun with blank cartridges at his daughter’s wedding event and this had a very profound impression. Accessories include an unrestored steel prolong handle, a bore cleaning brush, and kit to load cases with black powder and reloadable brass cartridge cases, one set of reloading dies with decapping tool, two projectiles, two lead balls, one priming tool, one projectile mold, and reloading equipment. Breech block opens and shuts freely and lanyard actuates the firing mechanism. This weapon appears fully functional. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is near excellent. Over 90% deep lustrous blue, thinning in some places but very, very handsome indeed. Steel carriage and axle near excellent black enamel paint finish with the original wooden spoke wheels extremely fine to near excellent. Rubber covering on elevation wheel cracking and disintegrating with age. Telescoping tongue of trail is serviceable with original detent pin in place. Steel tires retain most of their black enamel paint finish with the loss occurring from the cannon being wheeled about. Bore is extremely fine and clean. Would be hard to imagine a more attractive little cannon to put into one’s collection. The reloadable brass cases and shooting accessories only enhance the desirability of this lot, certain to please as either a display piece or shooter, or best of all, both! JWK 2021-11-039
