Colt 1911 semi automatic pistol. Early gun, made 1913. Left side of the slide marked with the patent dates and company address. Right side is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45", followed by "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". Left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Later production High Standard barrel marked "HS", on the right lug, with a "P" stamp on the left. Standard blade front sight and fixed u-notch rear. Original finish on the metal components having formed a gray patina. Diamond checkered wood grips look to be original to the gun. Latter production gun marked "S" on the lip, and has a number, "9771" marked on the right side. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with most areas having formed a dull gray and brown patina. Grips have finish wear to the checkering, with a few scratches. Bore is clean overall with very strong rifling retained. Mechanically fine. Magazine has light finish wear. JWA
