Colt Pocket Navy cartridge conversion single action revolver, manufactured in 1861 as a Colt Pocket Navy, and then converted to cartridge by Colt sometime between 1873-1876. 4 - 1/2" octagon barrel in .38 caliber rimfire with single line Colt New York address complete with cone front sight and hammer notch rear sight. Matching numbers include barrel, trigger guard, butt, and cylinder which are serial numbered 401 (original serial number), and both the cylinder arbor and the loading gate are serial numbered 320 (conversion number). 1 piece plain walnut grips on brass backstrap and trigger guard assembly. Trigger guard is marked ".36 CAL". CONDITION: Very good with barrel assembly covered in light pitting and wear consistent with storage throughout with bright original bluing underneath. Backstrap and trigger guard have turned a pleasing mustard patina with black oxidation at high edges. Grips are excellent with almost no signs of major distress other than a small period chip on right grip panel. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand and is tight. Bore has areas of heavy pitting throughout with well defined rifling. TON
