John Pease is a noted modern engraver who has done work for Smith and Wesson, Colt, Turnbull Restorations, and others. This gun was acquired from Colt as an employee sale directly to John, who engraved it in well executed scroll with a punch dot background with near complete coverage on the slide and approximately 50% coverage on the frame. Finish is high polish deep Colt blue, nearly black. Accented with fire blued screws and pins and black buffalo horn grips. "JOHN K. PEASE ENGR." under left grip scale. Accompanied by the appropriate Colt blue box and a letter from John Pease authenticating the gun and detailing it. CONDITION: Excellent, possibly unfired. Retains virtually all of the Colt deep blue finish with the most minute of marks from handling and storage. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent with sharp rifling. Grips are excellent. Box is fine. Opportunities to obtain guns of this quality are rare and should not be skipped lightly. EW
