Evans "New Model" lever action rifle with this believed to have been assembled after the Evans company went bankrupt by E.G Ridout of New York or G.W. Turner & Ross of Boston, Mass. These rifles were assembled from left musket parts with their own special walnut checkered forearm with "98" stamped under the forearm and "EVANS SPORTING RIFLE" on top of the barrel. 2 piece walnut stock with loading tube in butt. Case hardened lever and blued action. CONDITION: Metal has faded to a brown patina with some surface discoloration and pitting. Good bore with nonfunctioning mechanics with several internal springs and hammer missing. DLM
