Lot consists of (A) Ubu nakago. Shin gunto with army mounts and signed on nakago. Tsuba with florals at corners. Plain habaki. Menuki in the form of florals. Sword has been heavily buffed, hamon is essentially invisible, may be midare. CONDITON: Good as heavily polished along the length of the blade. Some spotting and freckling along sword that was buffed over. Mounts are very good with rubbing throughout. (B) Ubu nakago signed on both sides. In appropriate army mounts and fitted with the brown/blue company grade officer tassel. Oil quenched blade with straight hamon. CONDITION: Good, carefully cleaned over some oxidation that has left spotting along the blade. Hamon nicely visible. Mounts are very good, including tassel. A nice example. EW
