Lot consists of (A) Mid war shin gunto in army mounts. Oil quenched blade with simple straight hamon line. Copper habaki. Ubu nakago with single mekugi ana and signed on both sides of nakago. Standard floral tsuba and menuki. Standard floral and beaded fuchi kashira. CONDITION: Good. Blade has been buffed with visible striations and cleaned over some old oxidation, towards the tip. Blade has some damage towards kissaki. Mounts are good, saya with some oxidation, primarily on left side. (B) Late war Navy shin gunto with army fittings painted gold. Ubu nakago with single painted character on left side of tang and anchor stamp on right. One mekugi ana. Oil quenched blade with simple straight hamon. Black navy tsuba. Army style fittings that have been painted gold. Painted black saya with gold fittings. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is clean with some minor marks throughout and a few spots of staining. Fittings are good, saya has chipping to paint. A nice lot. EW

CORRECTION: Please note that the second sword in this lot is not a Navy sword, but is one of approximately 8,000 swords that was sold at PXs after the war as souvenir swords produced by Tenshozan Works.
