Winchester Third Model 1873 lever action rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1889. Blued full octagon barrel with sheared blade front sight and adjustable rear notch sight with King's Improvement and Winchester Address. Blued Third Model frame with plain trigger and serrated dust cover (missing) with button magazine. Madis says 1 in 270 guns have a special length magazine tube. Walnut shotgun style butt with steel smooth shotgun buttplate. Madis says 1 in 600 guns had a special buttplate. Gun has walnut plain forearm with blued nosecap. CONDITION: Metal has been cleaned to an aged silvery patina with light corrosion marks. Wood has dry appearance with cracking behind action and a large crack in the forearm. Poor bore with working mechanics. DLM
