9" octagonal barrel of 16 bore with mushroom-style front sight and patent breech done at time of conversion from flintlock. Birmingham proofs on top left flat, rear proof bifurcated when breech installed. Barrel retained by both pins and wedges. Cock with tall thumbpiece, dolphin form, and swan neck. Engraved with florals and geometrics throughout and marked "RICHARDS" in center of plate. Sliding English style safety. Stepped lock with beveled edge engraved with border work. Full stock with brass tipped ramrod retained by single ferrule and feeding into a reinforced mouth. Larger than usual trigger guard with urn finial engraved with stand of arms, and border work. Bag grip. CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated. Barrel has been rebrowned and lock has been recolored with some softness to engraving as a result. Trigger guard appears to be the original high polish English blue. Stock has benefit from a light sanding and revarnishing with wood shy to metal. Barrel has some scattered oxidation, primarily at stock line. Stalking safety has broken. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with a minimum of oxidation. A nice example of a converted pistol. EW
