Serrated slope front sight with square notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with gold inlaid "The Panama Canal" and "Path Between The Seas" in ribbons and a central gold inlaid depiction of the Gatun Lock control house with flanking depiction of locks, and accented with scroll. Right side with "They Conquered The Isthmus" in gold ribbon and four portraits of Goethals, Roosevelt, Stevens, and Gorgas, with accenting scroll. Rear right of slide with gold U.S. Great Seal, rear left with inlaid depiction of canal. Solid pewter grips with scroll at top and bottom with central "1870 / - / 1914 / one / of / 250" on left scale, and American great seal on right. Comes with the original Colt wood grain box numbered to this gun and presentation case, along with factory letter. CONDITION: Excellent, with only a few very minor marks from handling and storage. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent with strong rifling. Breech is very clean; it is possible this handgun is test fired only. Box is very good with some normal age related distress and a tear on one end flap, presentation case is excellent although thick paper cover has breaks at joints. Letter has Colt information confirming configuration. EW
