Whitney Navy single action percussion revolver. Made early 1860s. Top of the barrel is marked "E.WHITNEY/N.HAVEN". Serial numbered marked on the bottom of the barrel. No military marks or cartouches. Octagon barrel with pin front sigh and v-notch cut out rear. Original finish having formed a heavy brown patina. Brass trigger guard. Walnut grips are numbered to the gun. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish forming a heavy brown patina. Brass trigger guard has some tarnish. Grips have numerous small dents and scratches, mostly around the bottom edges. Grips are loose, and screw must be tightened all the way to keep them tight to the frame. Bore is relatively clean, with some light pitting near the muzzle. Tight hammer and cylinder. Nipples show some signs of dry firing. JWA
