Lot consists of (A) Colt Model 1849 Pocket single action revolver. Made 1855. Top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY". Left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". Cylinder scene is worn off. Matching serials on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt and cylinder. Octagon barrel with pin front sight. Blued finish worn to an even gray patina on the barrel and loading lever. Case colored frame worn to an even gray as well. Brass plated trigger guard and back straps. Nipples look to be replacements. Varnished walnut grip. Includes a contemporary red velvet lined wood case. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish, with most areas worn to an even gray patina. The frame and cylinder have areas of cleaned pitting. Grip has handling marks and wear. A corner is chipped off on the left side. There is some very mild pitting in the bore, with very good overall rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Gun is mechanically operable, but is slightly out of time. Barrel wedge screw is missing. Case is very good, with some exterior wear. (B) Colt Model 1849 Pocket single action revolver. Made 1855. Top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY". Left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". "COLTS PATENT" marked on the five shot cylinder as well, with the engraved stagecoach scene. Matching serials on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt and cylinder. Octagon barrel with pin front sight. Blued finish worn to an even gray patina on the barrel and loading lever. Case colored frame worn to an even gray as well. Brass plated trigger guard and back straps. Nipples look to be replacements. Varnished walnut grip. CONDITION: Metal retains little to none of its original finish with most areas having formed an even gray patina. Brass has some tarnish and wear. Grip has handling marks and wear. Bore has some light frosting, but no real pitting. Good overall rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good overall timing. Mechanically fine. JWA
