Baumann is recorded in Stockel as working in Munchen circa 1798 - 1812, he was the court gunsmith circa 1798 and was the regimental gunsmith for the Crown Prince. Hooked Damascus Belgian proofed barrels with smooth concave rib and bead front sight with deeply struck poincons at breech reading "ANT BAUMANN" on left and "IN MUNCHEN" on the right, which is repeated on locks. Beautiful case hardened locks with waterproof pans, roller frizzens, fence at rear. Gold border on locks, and wire decoration on cocks, with hares depicted on rear stepped area of lock, one holding still and one in motion. Fine checkered and carved walnut stock with the face of a Greenman carved into pistol grip and an equally detailed floral design around cheekpiece and tang. Comes with what appears to be the original hardwood ramrod retained by two ferrules and a reinforced mouth, also with game scene. Good bores and mechanics. Beautifully made gun with condition. DLM/EW
