Remington Model 1858 New Navy single action percussion revolver. Made 1863. Top of the barrel is marked "PATENTED SEPT, 14. 1858/E.REMINGTON & SONS, ILION.NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW-MODEL.". No visible inspector stamps or cartouches. Matching serials on the bottom barrel and left butt of the grip. Octagon barrel with half moon front sight with v-notch cut out rear. Original finish worn to a heavy brown patina. Walnut grips. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish, having formed a heavy brown patina. Grips have handling marks, dents and scratches. Relatively clean bore with sharp rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Slightly out of time. Nipples have some minor signs of dry firing. May need some minor adjustment. JWA
