Produced circa 1880 in the classic .45-70 Government cartridge. It features a 22" round barrel with "V/P/(Eagle Head)" proofs, blade front sight, proper "C" marked rear sight, breech block marked "US/MODEL/1873", lockplate marked with federal eagle and "US/SPRINGFIELD". 1-piece walnut stock with a spring retained band, 2-piece trigger guard, saddle ring, and trap butt marked "US". No stock cartouche visible, although "104" has been stamped near the heel. CONDITION: Good with an overall brown patina with traces of blue. Some pitting on butt plate.
