Colt Artillery single action army revolver with an 1891 vintage frame. Typical of these artillery revolvers, they were rebuilt in the 1890s using original cavalry revolvers; serviceable parts were reassembled and barrels shortened to 5 - 1/2", and subsequently reissued to Army troops in the Philippines at the turn of the century. Left side of barrel is marked "45 COLT". Serial numbers include 137620 on frame and 3452 on trigger guard. Let side of frame is marked "U.S." with "RAC" (Rinaldo A. Carr) inspection stamp on frame, barrel underneath center pin, and on bottom of grips near butt. Trigger guard is Ainsworth inspected. 1-piece plain walnut grips. Blued blackpowder frame. Complete with Kopec letter confirming configuration as well as that the frame of this revolver clearly displays a refinish that appears to be a "Manila Arsenal" refinishing. CONDITION: Very good, with a vast majority of the bright bluing remaining with freckling and handling marks throughout. Grips fit well with no major signs of distress. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. An interesting Colt "Artillery" single action revolver with Kopec letter that would fit well in any US martial Colt SAA collection. TON
