Colt 1911A1 semi automatic pistol with British proofs. Made 1944. Right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 U.S. ARMY". Crossed cannons ordnance cartouche on the right side of the frame as well, behind the grip panel. Left side of the slide is marked with the company address and patent dates. "G.H.D." inspector stamps on the left side of the frame. British proofs on the frame, slide and barrel, with tonnage marks as well. "P" proofs on the slide, frame and barrel. "COLT 45 AUTO" marked on the left outside of the chamber. Parkerized finish having been touched up post war. Keyes checkered fiber grips. Blued steel magazine with "R" marked on the lip for Risdon. CONDITION: Metal retains 98% of its arsenal reapplied finish with a few handling marks. Grips are excellent. Bore is clean with very good riffling. Mechanically fine. Magazine has light finish wear. A great example of a scarce gun. JWA
