Manufactured between 1857 and 1864 with only a total production of approximately 1,000 - 1,500 guns. It is a half stock with a 6-shot fluted cylinder. Round barrel with a German silver front sight and a Pantograph rear sight. Exposed percussion side hammer. "COLT'S PT. ADDRESS COL. COLT / 1856 HARTFOR CT. U.S.A." on the top strap of the action. Wood cleaning rod with brass tip and two brass rod extensions in the but stock. Plain walnut fore stock and a highly figured walnut rear stock with two checkered panels at the wrist. The action has been converted to a centerfire cartridge. This is probably a gunsmith conversion and is very well done. An interesting Colt rifle. CONDITION: Generous amounts of original blue on the barrel and action. Hammer still has some traces of the factory case color on it. Front and rear stock show the usual dents and dings. Good bore with some light pitting in the lands and grooves. REW
