Circa 1879. Made from 1878-1889 with a total 22,690. This is claimed by some to be Colt's first double barrel shotgun, which also proved to be a success for the company. It's also been regarded as on of the finest American made shotguns in US history. This vintage black powder 12 guage shotgun with two sets of Damascus barrels (A - 25") and (B - 30"). Both sets have extractors, 2 - 5/8" chambers, concave tapered ribs with brass round front bead sights. Bottom front lumps are stamped with the guns serial number "532". Chokes are (A) left Improved Cylinder and right is Skeet. (B) Left is Improved Modified and right is Modified. The gun is built with sidelock rebounding exposed hammers, blued checkered top lever, and double triggers. Sidelocks engraved "Colt Pt. F A Mfg. Co.". Actions water table stamped with serial number "532". Double triggers protected by a full length trigger guard extend to the guns pistol grip. Bottom strap stamped with guns serial number "532". The walnut stock with a well checkered rounded pistol grip is finished by a hard rubber Colt buttplate. Both splinter forearms with matched checkering, lever release and ebony tips. Interior iron metal also with serial number "532" stamped on both. Shotgun resides in a single leather case with brass corners which houses both sets of barrels, cleaning rod, extractor ring and reloading tools. CONDITION: Good. (A) Barrel with interior spotting and is slightly loose. (B) Right barrel with ding several inches back from muzzle and also with some interior spotting. Both barrels with spots of fading. Action is sound. Triggers are good. Stock is good with various handling marks. Forends are good with chips, handling marks and bruising. Case is good with some scuffs and bruises. Neat piece. CP
