Frame manufactured 1944. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting pony. Slide numbered to a different gun under the firing pin retaining plate. Barrel marked "HS" on right side of lug, "P" on left lug. Left side of frame with "G.H.D." proof above magazine release, right side of frame with crossed cannon cartouche, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" mark, seiral number, and British nitro proof and a British scepter proof that has been partially destroyed. Checkered small parts including spurred hammer, stamped trigger, and thumb safety. Aftermarket extended and enlarged magazine release. Long 1911A1 grip safety, arched serrated mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Pachmayr wraparound polymer grips with Colt golden medallion. Housed in a modern kraft box with Ithaca drawing number stamp. CONDITION: Fine as completely refinished and converted, likely for early pistol competitions. Frame and bushing are now nickel finished, with blued small parts. General handling and use marks throughout, with spotting and some marks from chemical cleaning on slide. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and frosting at edges of lands. Box is fine as contemporary. EW
