Serrated slope front sight, square notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting pony. Correct matching serial number under firing pin retaining plate. Barrel marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "P" on left lug, "G" in front of lug. Left side of frame with "G.H.D" proof under slide stop, "P" proof near checkered magazine release, right side with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" (Y not present). Right side of frame with crossed cannon cartouche. Checkered spurred hammer, safety, slide release, short stamped trigger, and magazine release. Arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Coltwood grips with internal ribs and thick reinforcing rings. Commercial magazine with "(Pony) // COLT / 45 AUTO" on baseplate. Housed in a contemporary kraft box. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the original parkerized finish. Some legends are softened in places or incomplete (such as ARMY marking aforementioned), but this is most likely a result of a damaged die as legends do not show signs of refinishing and appropriate burnishing is visible in the crossed cannon cartouche. Some normal handling marks throughout, including silvering to reciprocating areas, and a couple small areas of patina on dust cover and near serial number marking. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some frosting in grooves. Box is fine as contemporary. EW
