Very rare variation of the 1911A1 as ordered by Argentina in 1941 for their Navy. Argentina placed an order with Colt for 500 1911A1s "off-the-shelf" and then marked them with the Argentinian crest on the top of the slide in front of the rear sight, and "REPUBLICA ARGENTINA / ARMADA NACIONAL - 1941" on right side. Other standard features include half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 1 block address and patent information, right side with aforementioned Argentinian marks, and "COLT // AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE .45 // (Rampant Colt)". Slide numbered to frame under firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel marked with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber. Swartz safety, known on these guns, is intact. Checkered spurred hammer, slide release, safety, magazine release, and short trigger. Long 1911A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Full blue magazine with "COLT / 45 AUTO" on baseplate. CONDITION: Very good, especially considering how many of these guns were reparkerized and finding them in the original blue is very difficult. Retains the vast majority of the Colt factory bluing with some handling marks from handling and use throughout, and some silvering to slide consistent with holster wear. Some silvering to high edges and reciprocating areas as well. One unusual silver ping under slide release. Front grip strap with heavy wear from use. Stamps have welling around them from factory strikes. Grips are very good. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with visible rifling and frosting throughout. EW
