1891 vintage Colt Frontier Six Shooter single action revolver, serial number 142884. 4 - 3/4" round barrel chambered in .44-40 WCF with blade front sight and notched rear. 2 piece factory checkered gutta percha grips featuring a Rampant Colt in an oval and an eagle on either side. Accompanied by a factory letter indicating shipment as a blue .44-40 4 - 3/4" gun sent to J.F. Schmelzer & Sons Arms Company, Kansas City, Kansas, in a shipment of 10 sent September 19th, 1891. CONDITON: Good, with virtually all of the original finishes faded to a dove-gray patina with scattered handling marks throughout. Grips are very good showing some wear from handling overall but are strong with no signs of major distress. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand and is tight. Bore is frosted with heavy abrasion and visible rifling. An honest example of an antique American classic. TON
