Colt M1911A1 semi-automatic pistol. Made 1942 in a batch of approximately 3,982 that were shipped to the U.S. Navy. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the right side of the frame, over the serial number "NO794582". "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" marked on the right side of the frame as well. Standard 2-line company address, rampant Colt pony, and company address on the left side of the slide. Boxed "W.B." inspectors stamp on the left side of the frame. "P" firing proof marked on the left side of the frame, under the magazine release, in addition to the top of the slide. "VP" on the left side of the trigger guard. Barrel is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the left side of the chamber. "P" proof on the left leg. "G" stamped on the bottom. Serial number "794/582" correctly stamped under the firing pin stop plate. Standard blade front sight and U-notch rear. Original parkerized finish. Wide spurred hammer. Coltwood red plastic grips with hollow backs. Includes Risdon contract blued steel magazine with an "R" the lip and "C-R" on the bottom. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its original finish with light wear and handling marks. Grips are excellent with fine checkering. Bore is lightly frosted but retains very good rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine has light wear. JWA
