Model 1878 manufactured by Colt in 1892. Left side of barrel is stamped "455-CAL." with the top being stamped ""COLT'S PT.FA. CO HARTFORD CT.U.S.A.DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON". Left side of frame bears the Rampant Colt logo within a circle. English proofs are present on the bottom of the barrel towards the breech. Features include a 5 - 1/2" barrel, blade front sight, notched rear sight, lanyard loop on butt, and brown 2-piece Colt hard rubber grips. Matching numbers are found on the frame and cylinder, with matching assembly numbers on the frame and loading gate. Grips are unserialized. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair amounts of their original high polish factory blue finish, with the balance turning a pleasing brown patina and showing light surface oxidation all around. Fire blued components show varying degrees of wear, with some components retaining traces of their fire blue finish. Bore is bright, showing some oxidation and retaining well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips show some smoothing as well as some scattered handling marks and nicks. A rare Colt 1878 Pall Mall address revolver in a desirable caliber. MLW
