Manufactured 1914. Half moon front sight, U notch round top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information (August 1913 last date) with uncircled pony at rear. Barrel with partial "P" visible on front of barrel hood, oriented to be read muzzle down, "N" stamped in front of lug. Appropriate subinspector marks on top of frame bridle. Checkered spurred hammer, safety, slide release with early relief mill cut, magazine release. Long smooth trigger, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond walnut grips. Two tone dual pinned base magazine. Housed in a contemporary kraft box with Remington Rand ordnance ink stamp on top. CONDITION: Good. Retains approximately 1/3rd of the factory bluing, mostly on frame and in protected areas, with balance worn to an honest silver patina with even freckling and a few darker spots of patina. Some blue visible on top of slide around protected areas, particularly around sights. Given the wear patterns, this gun spent a lot of time in a holster and coming out of it. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some light even frosting in grooves. A well cared for and heavily used early gun. Box is fine as contemporary. EW
