Manufactured 1916. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with uncircled pony at rear, right side of slide marked "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45". Barrel with crooked "P" in front of lug. Left side of trigger guard with Colt VP proof and "b" proof. Right side of frame with "GOVERNMENT MODEL / C 35840". Checkered relief mill cut slide release and safety. Spurred, checkered hammer, checkered magazine release, long smooth trigger. Short 1911 grip safety, flat smooth mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Two tone dual pinned base magazine with lanyard loop. Aftermarket thick pearl grips. Housed in a modern kraft box with Colt ordnance number in stamped on top. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter indicating shipment to Krakauer, Zork, & Moye Company, El Paso, Texas, on April 28th 1916 in a shipment of 25. Stocks are not listed according to letter. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the Colt bluing with sharp legends. Some silvering to muzzle consistent with holster use and some silvering to high edges. Some minor handling marks throughout, including a takedown mark. Some patina to grip straps. Grips are very good with strong fire and free of chips or racks externally; bushings have oxidized and grips were not removed to avoid risking damage to them. Barrel looks to have been subjected to a chemical cleaning at some point with some spotting to chamber. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some frosting in grooves. Box is fine as new. EW
