Serrated slope front sight with square notch flat top rear sight. "P" proof in front of rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting pony. Right side with "RELEASED / BRITISH GOVT 1952" and British view proof at rear. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "P" of leg lug. Top of chamber with British nitro proof, London view and proof marks. Left side of frame with vertical "G.H.D." proof under slide release, "P" near magazine relase. "K" and Colt "VP" proof on left side of trigger guard. Right side with crossed cannon cartouche, indiscernible British proof, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", serial number, "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY", "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" in starburst. "82" on right side of trigger guard. Checkered spurred hammer, slide release, short stamped trigger, thick tab safety. Long 1911A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Coltwood grips with internal ribs and thick reinforcing rings. Full blue magazine with no markings. CONDITION: Excellent as professionally, possibly arsenal, refinished. Handling marks throughout with some silvering at reciprocating areas. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some frosting in grooves. Legends are legible but slightly washed out, some British proofs have washed out completely. A very attractive example with plenty of eye appeal. EW
