Scarce in comparison to military production .45 ACP model 1917 revolvers, this example was produced for the commercial market prior to World War II. Standard blued finish, no USP markings, pinned 5 - 1/2" tapered round barrel marked "S. & W. D.A. 45", blade front sight, fluted 6-shot cylinder for use with moon clips, frame marked on left with S&W trademark, case hardened trigger, case hardened checkered hammer, lanyard loop, and checkered walnut grips with diamond escutcheon. CONDITION: Good retaining bountiful amounts of factory applied blued finish retained with some moderate wear, including a drag line, high edge wear, and handling marks. A few minor spots of loss present on the cylinder. Lanyard loop exhibits a gray patina, and is a possible replacement. Case hardened components retain portions of their thinning colors. Grips good with some moderate wear and a few marks. Excellent mirror bore with crisp rifling. Fine mechanics. BAS
