1884 vintage Colt Etched Panel Frontier Six Shooter single action revolver, serial number 100757. 5 - 1/2" round barrel chambered in .44-40 WCF with single line Colt Hartford, CT barrel address, blade front sight, and frame notch rear. Barrel is marked with "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" in an original etched panel on left side. Matching serial numbers observed on butt, trigger guard, frame, and barrel underneath ejector rod housing. 2 piece early factory checkered gutta percha grips featuring an Eagle and a Rampant Colt on either side. Complete with a factory letter confirming configuration and shipment along with 4 other guns to Hartley and Graham in New York, New York (Schuyler, Hartley, and Graham changed their name in the late 1870s-early 1880s era after Schuyler retired from the company). CONDITION: Good, with virtually all of the original finishes turned to an even gray patina with handling and storage marks throughout. Etched panel is still present and mostly legible. Grips are good as well worn but complete. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand. Bore is frosted with visible rifling. A well worn example of an American classic complete with factory letter and a historic shipping destination. TON
