Saginaw "SG" M1 Carbine semi automatic rifle. Made 1943 at Saginaw Steering Gear in Saginaw, Michigan. No import mark found. Barrel is marked "SAGINAW S.G. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS" behind the rear sight. "P" firing proof marked in front of the band. Band has no visible markings. Front sight is un-marked, while the rear flip sight is marked "S" on the left base. "SG" marked operating rod, receiver plate, bolt, and trigger housing. Handguard is marked "RSG" on the inside. Stock has no other visible markings. Metal components were reparkerized post-War. Stock has a light coat of aftermarket oil finish. Includes 15 round "U" marked union hardware magazine. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its reapplied parkerized finish with some light wear and scratches. Wood is excellent with a few handling marks. Bore is clean with crisp rifling. Muzzle erosion gauges at a 1. Mechanically fine. Magazine is excellent. JWA
