Colt Army Model 1909 double action revolver. Made 1911. Left side of the barrel is marked "COLT D.A. 45". Company address and patent dates on the top of the barrel, with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked on the bottom. "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1909" marked on the butt. Rampant Colt pony on the left side of the frame. "F.B." inspector stamp on the top tight of the frame. "R.A.C." inspector stamps on the right side of the frame, bottom of the barrel and on the cylinder. Matching serials on the butt, frame and crane. Round steel barrel with blade front sight and rear u-notch cut out. Factory blued finish on the metal components. Fire blue still visible on the trigger and hammer. Lanyard ring and stud present on the butt. Original walnut grips. CONDTION: Metal retains 75% of its original finish, with general wear and scratches. Grips have dings, scratches and dents. Bore is clean, with very strong rifling retained. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good lock up and timing. Mechanically fine. JWA
